    About the Department/College

    Northern Arizona University's (NAU) ACPHA-accredited and ranked School of Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) is situated within the AACSB-accredited Franke College of Business (FCB). Launched in 1986, the HRM program was intentionally designed to provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities for emerging hospitality professionals to be an engine of economic opportunity for the growing hospitality industry in Arizona and the surrounding areas. That work continues today. With over 5,000 graduates, HRM is committed to the success of our students, alumni, team, program, and hospitality industry community. We do this by providing a continuously adapting curriculum, investing in vibrant and experienced team members, designing spaces where students can learn experientially, and committing to the success of our alumni and hospitality community. Our diverse, 35+ member team supports the work of serving 400 current students by hosting two major fundraising events (Casino Night and Golf Tournament) and two major Career Fairs (40+ employers), as well as providing ongoing support for alumni.     About the Position

    The HRM Lodging and Hospitality Operations Assistant Professor of Practice is a crucial position for the program and serves as the utility faculty in lodging and hospitality operations. The Professor will work collaboratively with the HRM team to curate successful lodging and hospitality experiences that reflect excellence in the hospitality industry. This will be accomplished through innovative and impactful teaching approaches, through real-world and hands-on opportunities, blurring the lines of the classroom by inviting the community into the classroom, and by sending students out into the community to practice culinary skills. The Professor will teach courses that are dynamic, current, engaging, and intentionally designed to foster a sense of curiosity, purpose, and value. This is a 9-month non-tenure eligible position.

    Responsibilities Include:

    • This position will teach up to twelve credit hours of courses in each of the fall and spring semesters. Opportunities are possible to teach both in winter and summer semesters for additional income. In general, this position will be teaching lodging, technology, and hospitality operations courses including labs.
    • This position will support the HRM lodging and hospitality operations curriculum by working closely with industry and advisory board members by inviting hospitality professionals as guest speakers in classes and engaging in local, regional, and national community outreach.
    • The position will be able to teach a variety of HRM courses related to lodging and hospitality topics, as well as one of the following FCB vertical areas: Restaurant Design, Hospitality Technology, Hotel Operations, or Restaurant Operations.
    • Other duties as assigned by the HRM Executive Director.

    This position is an on-site position which requires the incumbent to complete their work primarily at an NAU site, campus, or facility with or without accommodation. Opportunities for remote work are rare.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Earned graduate degree in hospitality, or related field from an accredited institution by date of appointment.
    • Minimum 5 years' experience as lodging or hospitality director or manager.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Three or more years as a lodging and restaurant educator in an accredited culinary or hospitality program.
    • ServSafe instructor and proctor certifications.

    This is a Faculty (FAC) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP); sick leave accruals and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified family members. Leidos is the prime contractor providing flight training, simulation training, classroom instruction and schoolhouse support activities including the One Army School System (OASS) integration, and Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) maintenance for platforms and simulation devices in use or anticipated to be in use by the Army National Guard.

    Leidos is hiring in-flight instruction of AATS assigned UH-60 A/L aircraft and instructor qualification courses, readiness level progressions, regional and foreign military training. The selected Instructor Pilots will conduct associated Instructor Operator tasks and platform academic instruction in support of the AATS student training mission. Candidates will accomplish all training in accordance with AR 95-1, TRADOC Programs of Instruction (POI), UH-60 dATM and local AATS SOPs. All contractor Instructor Pilots will adhere to prescribed requirements IAW DCMA INST 8210-1D. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience supporting the ATSOS program.

    **THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)**

    + Maintain training records on formal course students and in ATP records as required for unit, readiness level (RL) progression trainees.

    + Provide instruction and evaluation to student pilots IAW Training Support Packages for AATS approved courses of instruction.

    + Conduct daily academic instruction of approved POI (Aircraft Qualification Course, Instructor Pilot Course, Aircraft Standardization Course, Maintenance Test Pilot Course).

    + Facilitate pre-mission planning and after-action reviews for all flights and simulation periods conducted.

    + Complete all aircrew training program (ATP) requirements IAW DCMA INST 8210-1D, AR 95-1, and the applicable dATM. Contract pilot shall participate in No-notice evaluation program.

    + Coordinate daily tasks and requirements (examples are work schedules, leaves, etc.) of contract employees to meet AATS missioned training requirements and schoolhouse accreditation as directed by AATS chains of command.

    + Responsible for compliance with appropriate Army, National Guard and AATS policies, procedures and regulations.

    + Coordinate with the GFR to ensure all contractors are qualified to perform aviation-training tasks IAW DCMA INST 8210.1D

    + Report Instructor Flight and Operation data in the Task Order Monthly Report.

    **WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications)**

    + High School Diploma with 8 years’ of applicable experience or Bachelors’ Degree with 4 years’ of experience.

    + Instructor Pilot experience with minimum of 250 military IP Flight Hours and/or 2 yrs IP experience at any USAACE approved or OASS accredited program. Flight time and operational experience, will be considered to meet experience stated above based on a records review by the GFR IAW DCMA INST 8210-1D.

    + USAACE/AATS (or equivalent Army approved NET) qualified IP in type aircraft for which duties will be performed.

    + Instructor Training Course (ITC) or ABIC qualified; or successfully graduate from a AATS provided ABIC course within 12 months of contractor employee start date.

    + FAA Commercial Pilot or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate.

    + FAA Second Class flight physical required. Army Contractor pilots have the option of maintaining either an annual FAA Second Class Medical Certificate or an Army Class 2 FDME (DCMA 8210.1D, para 4.3.5.1.2).

    + Experience as an SP, IE and/or IP in a OASS school, MTOE or TDA organization at the company and/or battalion level.

    + Instrument Flight Examiners (IE), Standardization Instructor Pilots (SP), Instructor Pilots (IP), and Maintenance Evaluators (ME) designations apply only to contractor pilots (Army) contracted for the sole purpose of conducting aircraft qualification training and administration of the Aircrew Training Program (ATP). Contractor pilots in these designated positions shall meet all Army initial aircraft qualifications and recurrent training requirements per AR 95-1 and the applicable aircraft Digital Aircrew Training Module (dATM) (DCMA 8210.1D, para 4.3.4.3).
