    The Manfredsson laboratory at Barrow Neurological Institute is currently hiring several highly motivated Research Faculty within the areas of gene therapy neurodegeneration and electrophysiology. The group is focused on developing novel gene therapy modalities to study and treat neurodegeneration and associated symptomology with a primary focus on Parkinson’s disease. The position is catered to all levels however Junior/Research Faculty with a NIH ESI status will be given special consideration. Our group practices team science utilizing a multitude of interdisciplinary approaches in our research ranging from electrophysiology to viral vector design and production. Our research outcomes range from molecular biology omics and histology. Although we are interested in all research backgrounds priority will be given to fellows with experience in either in vivo fiber photometry ex vivo electrophysiology and calcium imaging. A second priority is experience with DNA/RNA and molecular biology advanced viral vector engineering and in vivo assessment processing of human post-mortem brain specimens and next-gen sequencing and analysis. Experience with computer programming will be considered a plus. Research Faculty in the laboratory are expected to take the lead on a multitude of projects contribute to grant writing and supervise junior trainees. Required: PhD MD or equivalent. Highly collegial and works well on a team. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with precision and tact. Meticulous record keeping; proficiency with databases.

The mobile clinic is a state-of-the-art, 33’ long, 2016 La Boit specialty vehicle provisioned with a generator, climate control, two surgical tables, two anesthesia machines, an oxygen concentrator, active gas scavenger, medical refrigerator, exam/prep table, desk, multiple secure storage cabinets and 12 animal holding cages. It is used to provide mobile spay and neuter surgeries, minor surgical procedures, wellness exams, minor medical procedures and field medical diagnostics. The FORTS fold-out shelter (“pop-up”) is a 16x16’ two-room portable building that operates as a community medicine clinic and animal holding space adjunctive to the mobile clinic. It is set up with three exam tables, two in the main area and one in the separate cat exam room. In addition, shelter medicine faculty work with regional partners in a number of shelter and community outreach facilities throughout the Phoenix Valley.

    The Companion Animal Clinic is a modern and innovative veterinary hospital for small animals. The 110,000 sq. ft. building contains state-of-the-art surgical, dental, and intensive care facilities. The hospital is equipped with digital radiography, fluoroscopy, C-arm, CT, ultrasound, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and arthroscopy equipment. In addition to outstanding clinical facilities and equipment, the Companion Animal Clinic houses a pharmacy, a large and well-equipped surgery teaching laboratory, simulated examination rooms for clinical communications training using standardized clients/patients, and ample conference and small-group meeting rooms. The facility also includes full-service clinical pathology and microbiology laboratories and a small animal rehabilitation area. Adjacent to the Companion Animal Clinic is the Equine and Bovine Center, a large animal teaching facility housing small herds of cattle and horses, and the Necropsy and Pathology Center, a diagnostic pathology laboratory that supports the AHI and outside veterinarians.

    The Midwestern Psychology Clinic

    The Midwestern Psychology Clinic supports clinical training needs of doctoral psychology students within our Clinical Psychology Program. The clinic offers traditional outpatient therapy, psychodiagnostic evaluations, and brief assessments.     It is the responsibility of the faculty to teach courses in the occupational therapy curriculum in accordance with the approved course descriptions, learning objectives, and evaluative processes of the College of Health Sciences programs.     The Department of Pharmacology in the College of Graduate Studies at Midwestern University Glendale invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in pharmacology at the rank of Assistant Professor available in the 2024/2025 academic year. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in pharmacology or a closely related field. Two years of research experience at the postdoctoral level is required and teaching experience is highly desired. The successful applicant will participate in a team-teaching approach to meet the needs of several healthcare education graduate programs, including Osteopathic Medicine, Podiatric Medicine, Physician Assistant, Dental Medicine, Optometric Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine.
